- 1389 - Ottomans defeat the Serbs at the Battle of Kosovo; the death of Prince Lazar marks the end of an independent Serbian Empire.
- 1391 - First Ottoman siege of Constantinople.
- 1396-At the Battle of Nicopolis, the Ottomans decisively defeat the last crusade of the Middle Ages, an attempt by the Hungarians under Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor, and a Crusader army from France and England to lift the siege of Constantinople.
